Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions we receive from international customers. Don’t see your question? Contact our engineering team — we typically respond within 24 hours during China business days (UTC+8).

Quoting & Ordering

How do I request a quote?

Send your 3D model (STEP, IGES, or X_T preferred) and 2D drawing (PDF) to xiongjunlin@sz-juda.com, or use the form on our contact page. Include your target quantity, required material spec, surface finish, tolerances, certifications needed, and desired delivery date. We respond within 24 hours.

What file formats do you accept?

3D: STEP (.step / .stp), IGES (.igs / .iges), Parasolid (.x_t / .x_b), SolidWorks (.sldprt), Inventor (.ipt), Creo (.prt). 2D: PDF (preferred), DWG, DXF. We can read native Solid Edge, CATIA, and NX with prior arrangement.

Is there a minimum order quantity?

No minimum. We machine single prototypes regularly. Per-part cost drops significantly at 25, 100, and 500 due to setup amortization. Send your full quantity range (e.g., “5 prototypes + 250 production”) and we will quote tiered pricing.

How long does a quote take?

Within 24 hours during China business days (UTC+8) for standard requests. Complex parts with extensive DFM review may take up to 48 hours. We will tell you up-front if more time is needed.

Do you offer free DFM (Design for Manufacturing) feedback?

Yes. Every quote includes engineering review. If we see ways to reduce your cost (consolidating features, relaxing non-critical tolerances, choosing a more available material, simplifying geometry), we will note them in our quote — at no charge. You are free to accept, modify, or ignore our suggestions.

Lead Times & Shipping

How fast can you deliver prototypes?

Aluminum and standard steel: 24-72 hours from approved quote and drawing. Titanium and specialty alloys: 5-7 business days (material lead time + machining). Add 3-5 days for air freight to most international destinations.

How fast can you deliver production quantities?

Typical production lead times: 100 parts in 2-3 weeks; 1,000 parts in 3-5 weeks; 10,000+ parts in 6-10 weeks. Lead time depends on complexity, finishing, and material availability. For ongoing customers we maintain buffer stock to compress reorder lead time.

What shipping options do you offer?

Air freight via DHL, FedEx, UPS — typical 3-5 days door to door internationally. Sea freight LCL (less-than-container) for production volumes — typical 3-4 weeks but 70-90% lower cost. We offer DAP (Delivered at Place — customer handles import duty) or DDP (Delivered Duty Paid — we handle all customs). Documentation provided: commercial invoice, packing list, certificate of origin, MSDS where applicable.

Do you ship worldwide?

Yes. We export to North America, Europe, Israel, South America, Southeast Asia, Australia, and the Middle East. Some restricted destinations require additional compliance review.

Materials & Processes

What materials do you machine?

Aluminum (6061, 6082, 7075, 2024, ADC12, 5052, 5083), Stainless Steel (303, 304, 316, 316L, 17-4 PH, 440C), Carbon and Alloy Steel (1018, 1045, A36, 4140, 4340, D2), Titanium (Grade 2, Grade 5 / Ti-6Al-4V, Grade 23 ELI), Copper and Brass (C10100, C11000, H62, C360), Bronze (C932, Phosphor), Magnesium (AZ91D, AM60, ZK60), Specialty alloys (Inconel 718, Hastelloy C-22, Monel 400), Polymers (PEEK, PMMA, POM/Acetal, PTFE, Nylon, PEI/Ultem).

What tolerances can you hold?

Standard CNC tolerance: ±0.05mm (±0.002″). Precision tolerance: ±0.01mm (±0.0004″). Ultra-precision on 5-axis with in-process probing: ±0.005mm (±0.0002″). Tighter tolerances are achievable on specific features — discuss your requirements with our engineering team.

Do you offer finishing services?

Yes — in-house and via partner network: Anodizing (Type II decorative, Type III hardcoat, color anodize for titanium), Powder coating, Electroplating (Ni, Cr, Zn, Au, Ag), Bead blasting, Polishing (mirror to satin), Electropolishing, Passivation per ASTM A967, Heat treatment, Plasma electrolytic oxidation (PEO), Laser engraving, Silk-screen printing.

Do you do sheet metal fabrication and welding?

Yes. Fiber laser cutting (TRUMPF 6000W, Han’s 3000W), CNC turret punching (AMADA), CNC bending, riveting, robotic welding (MIG/TIG/Laser, 5 stations), mechanical assembly. We can combine machined and fabricated parts in a single PO.

Quality & Documentation

What certifications do you hold?

IATF 16949:2016 (automotive quality management), ISO 9001:2015 (general quality management), ISO 14001 (environmental management), QC080000 (hazardous substance process management — RoHS / REACH compliance), GB/T 19001 (Chinese national quality standard).

Can you provide PPAP and FAI documentation?

Yes. Full PPAP (all 18 elements) under IATF 16949 for automotive customers. AS9102 First Article Inspection for aerospace customers. MTRs traceable to mill heat, CMM inspection reports, surface roughness measurements, hardness testing, Certificates of Conformance, and full lot traceability included on request.

Do you do CMM inspection?

Yes. 8 CMM and quality testing labs with Zeiss and Mitutoyo coordinate measuring machines. First article inspection is standard. In-process inspection available for production runs. Reports delivered in PDF format with raw data on request.

Are your inspection instruments calibrated?

Yes. All measurement instruments calibrated per ISO 10012, traceable to national standards. Calibration certificates available on request.

Pricing & Payment

How is pricing structured?

Per-part pricing with quantity break tiers. Setup fees rolled into per-part cost (no separate NRE for orders > 25 pieces). Tooling fees are explicit and amortized — refundable or transferable per customer preference for ongoing relationships.

What payment terms do you offer?

New customers: 50% deposit on PO, 50% balance before shipment. Established customers: net 30, net 60, or letter of credit per agreement. Wire transfer (T/T) preferred; Western Union, PayPal, and Alibaba Trade Assurance accepted for small orders.

Do you offer NRE (non-recurring engineering) waivers?

For production commitments > 500 pieces or annual purchase agreements, NRE is typically waived or rolled into per-piece cost. Discuss your volume forecast during quote.

IP Protection & Confidentiality

Do you sign NDAs?

Yes. Mutual NDA signed before drawing exchange. We accept customer-supplied NDA templates or provide our standard. NDA terms include data handling, retention, sub-contractor restrictions, and jurisdiction.

How do you protect customer IP?

Encrypted file transfer (or your specified secure file share), compartmentalized production cells for sensitive projects, restricted access to design files, end-of-life file purging per customer retention policy. We have served Huawei, BYD, Emerson, ZTE, Mercedes-Benz, and other IP-sensitive OEMs for 15+ years under these standards.

Do you sell custom parts to other customers?

Never. Customer designs are confidential. We do not produce or sell customer-designed parts outside of the customer’s PO. Our standard NDA explicitly prohibits this.
